America 250: The Unfinished Story is a mixed-media artwork commemorating America’s 250th anniversary.
I was born in 1976, America’s bicentennial year. Now, at 50, as America approaches its 250th anniversary, this piece became more personal than I expected.
This artwork honors the beauty, tension, memory, faith, and hope woven into the American story. It moves beyond the typical left-right political spectrum. At its heart, it is about We the People — families, friends, neighborhoods, front porches, backyard memories, shared dreams, faith, freedom, and gratitude.
The process of creating it felt fitting. At times, it was ugly and difficult. Then it became good and full of energy. Then it fell apart again. I kept adding, removing, rebuilding, correcting, and trying to make all the parts work together. Eventually, I had to stop chasing perfection and let the piece become what it became.
That became the deeper message.
I’m a work in progress. America is too.
In the artwork, the eagle faces forward as a symbol of vision, courage, and hope. The Statue of Liberty rises as a figure of light. The Liberty Bell carries memory. The gold accents honor the weight of this historic moment, while the flowers remind us that beauty can still bloom in harsh environments.
My hope is that this piece reminds you — whether you see it in your home, office, or gathering space — that our story is still being written. Rebuilding can begin close to home. Faith, family, friendship, and neighborhood still matter.
America has layers. America remains unfinished. And America still holds a light.

What's a giclée print?
Giclée (zhee-KLAY) is the gold standard of fine art printing. It uses archival pigment inks built to last 100+ years without significant color loss — versus standard prints that can start fading within a few years.

My latest work, America 250: The Unfinished Story, brings a lot of those threads together. It's a mixed-media piece made to mark America's 250th anniversary — not with a highlight reel, but with honesty.
Beauty and tension. Memory and hope. Freedom and responsibility. The whole complicated, unfinished story.
Because that's what I'm drawn to. The unfinished parts. The still-becoming.
I believe art is more than decoration. At its best, it's a mirror and a flashlight — showing you what you've stopped noticing and reminding you what still matters.
I spent years carrying a dream I kept pushing aside. Then heart surgery showed up uninvited and woke me up to the life I was actually made for.
Now I pour that into everything — the fine art, the speaking, the live painting, the storytelling.
When I'm not in the studio, I'm out painting murals and window art for businesses, live painting at events, speaking, or leading paint-and-sip experiences that remind people creativity was never just for artists.
The medium changes. The message doesn't.
You were not made to disappear.
You were not made to die with the music still inside you.
